Sullia, otherwise spelt as Sullia, is a small town located in Dakshina Kannada District. It is also the Taluka Headquarters. Sullia Town Panchayat is responsible for looking after the general administration of Sullia Town. The Town Panchayat was established in the year 1996. The entire town is divided into 18 wards.

Sullia is located at a distance of 89 km from Mangalore City. Climate of Sullia is humid and hot during summers.  The total area of Sullia Town is about 6.61 sq km. Location of Sullia is at 12.33 Degrees North Latitude and 75.23 Degrees East Longitude. Sullia is located at an elevation of 108 m. During summers, the temperature of Sullia rises up to 35 Degrees Celsius while during winters the temperature rises up to 25Degrees Celsius. In Sullia, monsoon is from June to September, spring season is from November to January and summer season is from February to May.

The population of Sullia Town is 19, 958 as per India Census 2011. The percentage of males is approximately 49% and percentage of females is 51%. The average literacy rate of Sullia Town is 91%. Out of the total population of this town, 70% people are Hindus, 27% people are Muslims and 3% people are Christians. The main language spoken here is Kannada but languages like Tulu and Are Bhashe Dialet are also used by many inhabitants. Konkani, Kodava, Gowda Kannada and Havigannada are some other languages spoken in some parts of Sullia. Sullia Culture is mainly Tuluva Culture with a part of Kodava Culture mixed with it.

Economy of Sullia is dependent on Horticulture and Agriculture. As this region has abundant sources of water and fertile soil, most of the industries in Sullia are based on agricultural products. Sullia is famous for its agriculture. This region produces huge amount of crops such as Cashew Nut, Areca Nut, Rubber, Black Pepper, Coconut, Jack fruit, Vanilla, rice and Banana.

The nearest airport to Sullia is the Mangalore International Airport located at a distance of 90 km from Sullia.

The nearest railway station to Sullia is the Subrahmanya Road or Puttur Railway Station. Sullia can be reached from Bangalore and this road journey passes through places like Mysore, Mandya, Hunsur, Kushalnagar and Madikeri.
